Navarātri is a doorway into the Goddess - 9 nights [and days] of devotional practices dedicated to the divine mother. In this year's Navarātri program we will celebrate and invoke Her as Mahālakṣmi through sacred storytime, recitation & contemplation meant to inspire & deepen your devotional life & daily sādhana for the year ahead.
Let’s dive into the many arms of Mahālakṣmi – the Supreme Lakṣmi with storytime & Sanskrit recitation of the Mahālakṣmi Aṣtakam.
Chanting this stotram [hymn] from the Padma Purāna is a sweet & powerful devotional practice recommended for Navarātri. This stotram brings you close to the divine and invites the goddess to live within you and bless your life and spiritual growth.
Kaya & her husband, Vedic Astrologer Michael Manzella, have selected Mahālakṣmi as the teaching mantra for this season of Navarātri & Dīpāvalī because of the particular cosmic configurations of this time.

Navarātri is a sacred time for the stories, sādhana & secrets of the divine goddess. It is is a time to be "cracked open" in the best of ways, opening to love and the inner illumination of your divine purpose, gifts, and journey. This brings you deep into your own heart, where the feminine divine pulses within.
"Those who recite this stotram to Mahālakṣmi with devotion will always achieve the success they hope for and attain the most supreme."
~ Mahālakṣmi Aṣṭakam
About the Mahālakṣmi Aṣṭakam
I began chanting the Mahālakṣmi Aṣṭakam almost 18 years ago, under the guidance of a teacher. Though I had done Sanskrit recitation before, it was chanting to Lakṣmi that opened up a devotional doorway for me.
I even chanted this mantra during the birth of our first child.
Lakṣmi is easy to love – so magnetic is Her beauty, sensuality and worldliness. But Mahālakṣmi includes Her ferocity. She demolishes all sides, perceptions, opinions, preferences – with LOVE. In her all seeming contradictions are vanquished, as She demands deeper dharma that is beyond “me” versus “them”.
To discover Mahālakṣmi is to enter into the fullness of Adi Ṣakti in all of her power and potential.
It would be be an honor to share this beautiful heart-opening time with you, and in kūla [community].
Love,
Kaya
