In the Womb of Renewal
Feeling restless?
Feel like things are shifting in ways that make you feel a bit groundless or anxious? Phobias, Fears or Prophetic dreams? Depleted after a long run of activity? Karmic knots coming to the surface to be loosened & released?
Wondering What’s Going on in the Sky?
Kāla Sarpa {Serpent Configuration} + the Rākṣasa Yoga {Destruction Combination} are creating a chaotic, turbulent or exhausting frenzy. {more on all this below}
At the same time the upcoming new moon ends a year-long lunar cycle and prepares us for the 9 Nights of the Goddess.
We are in the dark unknown womb of renewal.
Depending on your state of mind, the inside of a womb is a scary unknown and impending birth may seem like death.
Or the womb could feel like a mysterious mystical in-between in which the mother who is holding you – unseen but felt.
Dark Moon of Endings - March 18/19
March 18/19 brings a powerful new moon nearing the end of the zodiac. This new moon marks the end of a lunar year and represents death before rebirth. This new moon is associated with frenzy & restlessness in the veda tradition. It holds the intensity of impending and inevitable change. We may be called to mature in ways we didn’t plan for.
In the cosmic body, this portion of the sky is symbolized by the feet… the “end” of the body. The feet are also the place we set on our pathways.
It’s time to get serious about what patterns and pathways to let go of. What will you do with the hidden truths that have come to light?
Will your dig your heels in and stay stuck? Or release the past and step forward with newfound inner wealth?
Bowing at the feet of the divine right now will invoke humility & bring blessing as we prepare for rebirth.
SUGGESTION: For this new moon I recommend mantras to Shiva, Rāma or the Hanumān Chalisa. Then begin Navarātri {more below}
Serpent Power - Amplification
With the moon moving, we begin “Kāla Sarpa Yoga” – all the Grahas {sun, moon, mars, saturn, venus & jupiter} are all now swallowed between the head & tail of the celestial serpent {the nodes of the moon}. At the same time, Mars combined with the head of the Serpent creates the destructive “Rākṣasa Yoga”
Kāla Sarpa lasts through July & brings chaos, amplification, vāta, anxiety, illusion, secrets, karma, desire & change. There’s a pull to loosen karmas, shed old skin and awaken depths. But it also brings deep insight, transformation and can release boons waiting to be given.
Kāla Sarpa can pull you toward obsession and amplify anything… so YOU decide… what do you want to be obsessed with? What do you hope to amplify?
Most important to remember is the Serpent is Śakti!
SUGGESTION: The key is not to be a victim of the configuration but to advocate for yourself with your own wise actions. Do mantras, take herbs, get your sleep, do your yoga, get your bare feet on the earth, spend time with good people. You have tools… now is the time to use them!
And all this makes a very powerful Navarātri…
Navarātri - 9 Nights of the Goddess
Navarātri -the 9 nights & days of the goddess begins on the first day of the waxing moon March 19/20 depending on your location.
During these 9 nights & days we worship the Divine Mother who’s womb is always holding us. We offer Pūjā & Mantra, celebrate Her, listen to Her stories, adorn images of Her and bow our heads at Her feet to release, recalibrate, re-orient, reawaken to our deepest values.

“Oh mother of the universe. Your feet are rubbed again and again polishing the crown jewels of Gods and enemies alike, as they bow at your feet repeatedly. Give us your form, give us victory, give us welfare, remove all hostility.” – Athargala Stotram
I'm wishing you restfulness over restlessness and the power to direct your divine will to orient toward what is most auspicious... may you ride the serpent from the dark mysterious womb into the birth of boons!
Jai Mā!
